What are the advantages?
It centralizes all tools, making the codriver’s job easier and more effective. There’s no need to carry extra writing material, a reading light or having a separate chronometer.
On iPad models that include GPS, the application also has an odometer that tells the distance left.
What if my iPad breaks?
First of all, there are kits to protect the device from water and dust and hold it in place should there be an accident (Sold separately, by Hernan VP). Besides that, iCodriver can export your pacenotes to PDF for printing on standard paper or as a file that can be imported to another device running iCodriver. So, in the worst case you would go back to reading from paper.
How reliable is it?
All versions undergo laboratory and real race testing before being released to the app store.
Will the App replace codrivers?
No. The application will not even make you a better codriver, it will just make your job more comfortable and probably also make you happier.
Is there trial version available?
Yes: Download it here.
How much does it cost and how do I buy it?
Please visit the iCodriver on the iTunes App Store page.
How was the idea born?
While travelling to races, Hernan (the creator) noticed that some airlines where providing documentation and navigation routes using iPads in order to reduce their weight and volume. He thought that if commercial airlines – responsible for hundreds of lives – are using it, it must be very reliable. Quickly after reading pacenotes in PDF format on his iPad, he realised of the immense potential of a dedicated App.
